MINNETONKA, Minn., October 31, 2026 WalkThera, Inc. hosted its first WalkPort Open House on Friday, Oct. 30, at The Marsh in Minnetonka, Minnesota. The event gave guests the chance to try WalkPort, the Supported Walk Station, in person for the first time.
Guests came with a range of mobility challenges, including multiple sclerosis (MS), spinal cord injury (SCI) and age related mobility limitations, along with friends, family members, caregivers and physical therapists. The WalkThera team led hands on demonstrations, answered questions and walked guests through how WalkPort works at home and in the clinic.
“People got to experience WalkPort for the first time, and it was magical,” said Joe Meyer, Director of Business Development at WalkThera. “They gave us a lot of great positive feedback. A lot of people wanted to see this at their clinics, they wanted to see it at their homes. They also had some constructive feedback for us, which is always appreciated.”

WalkPort is a stationary Supported Walk Station for indoor use at home, in the clinic and in senior living. It lifts the user from seated to supported standing, then guides the legs through a walking motion powered by the user’s arms or legs.
“WalkPort is not a shuffle, it’s not a glider, it’s not an elliptical. It’s actually walking.”

“The biggest thing is the independence,” said guest Jacob Mehr, who describes himself as a C5, C6 incomplete quadriplegic. “I needed just a little bit of support, especially with my right leg on this session, but not nearly as much compared to my normal walking therapies.”
“I love that it was a full body workout,” Mehr added. “Legs are pumping. Upper body’s pumping.”

“It made me feel like I was walking,” said guest Scott Conlon, who lives with MS. “It felt very supportive. I was locked in pretty well.”
For caregivers, the day was just as meaningful. “I have goosebumps,” said Bridget Barnes, who cares for guest Jeff Hovanec. “Just the confidence. To see the confidence in him, to know that he could do it. The positivity, the motion, the feeling, the exhilaration.”

“I wanted to thank the staff and everyone who came to participate. Thank you, and let’s get people walking again.”
